I have been absent this week as I recover from the Patriot loss last Sunday. It was an exiting game to the very end and heartbreaking to lose but I am proud of the team and look forward to their return trip to the Super Bowl next year.

This is about trails though and the news is poor. So are trail conditions around St. Johnsbury. You can find good riding once you reach Kirby on Rt 2-5. From there north it is OK. Do not use Trail 54 to go to East Burke. Use 2-5 to EX61 and take the left to East Burke. Trail 54 has a logging operation and a bad washout. The washout will be repaired this week but the logging will continue through the season.

The grooming crew managed to groom the 18-102 trail up to Concord just before the sun and warm temps did their damage this last week. It is marginal at best right now. Ice is everywhere and overheating is common.

I have been asking for a snowstorm for months. It is sickening to see brown ground popping up everywhere. We are on the verge of writing this season off.

Travel on our trail system is up to you but I would not recommend starting from lower elevations. If you do- prepare to stop frequently to allow your machine to cool down. Even fan cooled motors will need snow to keep the suspension lubricated.

I will post an update in the middle of this week and again just before the Holiday weekend to keep you up to speed on trail conditions.

Ride Right and Ride Safe!
