Seneca Mtn. landowner vows wind plan will proceed

1 post in this topic

Daniel Ouimette owner of Vermont's Seneca Mountain is vowing to build a wind project on the Northeast Kingdom ridgeline over the objections of property owners who rejected a proposal to build 20 industrial turbines.

After the recent nonbinding vote, logger and businessman Daniel Ouimette of Colebrook, N.H., said he will close a snowmobile trail and post no-trespassing signs on his 9,000 acres.

Pam Arborio belongs to a group opposed to the wind proposal. She says that Ouimette had previously agreed not to close his property if the vote went against him and that the decision will make him more enemies.

In recent years, Vermont has grappled with competing demands of producing clean renewable energy and fears that wind power poses environmental risks and damages the state's pristine beauty.
